Hello everyone this is my second post regarding radiant cut diamonds and I would really appreciate anyones opinion on this diamond that I would like to get for my girlfriends engagement ring. I welcome anyones opinion on this diamond and would love to hear anyones thoughts regarding the price, quality and anything other info that I might find helpful. Thanks in advance I have learned so much on this website in the last week. Of course I would have this diamond sent from the vendor to Dave Atlas for an appraisal, but I would still love some feedback before I purchase it.

P.S. I know that the ring is more rectangular in shape, but my girlfriend prefers this opposed to the more square original radiant cut.

Price: $5,155.00

I also love rectangular radiants! I wish I had one

Anyway, if I were you, I would go lower on the clarity...maybe an SI1. A radiant is so sparkly and has so many facets that I really think you woudn''t be able to see a small inclusion (with the naked eye) of an SI1. This way, you could get a little larger diamond for your money. Just my opinon, $5,155.00 seems like a lot for a 1 carat stone. I almost got a radiant as an upgrade and I was looking at SI1 and SI2 clarity, H and I color stones that were 1.20-1.40 for that price. AND THEY WERE GORGEOUS!!!

VSI is a great clarity, but I just don''t think it is necessary...unless it bothers your fiance to know that there is a small inclusion (even if you can''t see it with the naked eye). E color is also very white, and I think you could go a little lower on color as well...maybe G or H...believe me, it will still face up very white!

Hope this helps, and I hope I didn''t frustrate or confuse you too much.

...I guess she isn''t your fiance yet, huh? Oops

One more thing...I am not sure about the measurements of the radiant you posted. You may want to look on the internet at www.radiantcut.com. This is the website for the "orignal" radiant cut, and I''m sure it could be helpful. FYI, radiants are tricky--you really have to seem them in person to judge whether or not it looks right to you. The best measurements for a radiant aren''t as standard as for say, a round or princess, for example. I recommend that you go to a jeweler and look at some and see if one speaks to you. I think that is the best way to buy a radiant. Measurements don''t always say it all.

This diamond looks like it could be a contender but I am no expert on Radiant numbers and they certainly don't tell you everything, but this could well be worth investigating further! The clarity is fine, you could drop to a SI1 but just be careful regarding the inclusions, SI clarities can vary in inclusion visibility and depending on the Radiant faceting type, may show inclusions more than a round. Also be sure to ask your vendor the type, colour, placement, visibility, size and amount of inclusions, in a VS you should be fairly safe. You will pay a premium for an E colour, but it entirely depends on you and your GF's preferences if she would prefer to have an E and a VS clarity, nice specs! Also the shape is what you want, see what the appraisal brings and what your own two eyes tell you! Good luck and let us know how you get on! Radiants performance and looks can vary tremendously so make sure this one " blows your socks off " when you see it!

The diamond you picked out looks very nice on paper. I also found another one you might want to consider at JamesAllen.com

http://www.jamesallen.com/diamond.asp?cid=131&item=172908&aff_id=ps621

It''s a D, can''t get another whiter than that! It''s more elongated in shape, more rectangular than the one you picked out, but that will make it appear visually larger. It''s a little less money than the one you picked out (with the pricescope discount). If I were replacing my diamond, I''d definitely check this one out!

Thanks for the advice on the pricing of this diamond. After doing some more research I too, have also found that diamond to be pretty pricey for a 1 carat ring. I am now looking at James Allen and Good Old Gold for that perfect stone for my girlfriend. I will definitely post any contenders. Thanks for all of your guys help.
