My solitaire setting was destroyed, so my husband ordered me a new setting. He is in Afghanistan, so he ordered it from Adiamor online. They called asking for the dimensions of the stone before it was molded and sent off. I just received the setting yesterday, had it set today..

It is a beautiful setting, but the gap is bothering me. I can see that the setting fits the stone the way it should because of the prongs. But there is a space around the whole stone between it and the halo.

My question is.. If I were to bring this to a jeweler, is there anything that can be done to close the airline? Maybe if the diamond were set deeper into the setting? or something? anything? I'd hate to send the setting back but the gap is really bothering me.

My guess is that they make that setting in various set sizes, but it isn't custom made to fit your stone. You may encounter this problem with other stock settings if your stone is not a common size. How many mm is your stone in diameter?

Thats what I thought, but they called to ask for the diameter, it was sent off with my measurements to be made for my stone (at least, that is what I was told..) My stone is 6.5 mm. It is a little over 1 carat.

Okay, I think I see the problem. Your diamond is a very standard size, so that is not the issue. The problem is that they have just photoshopped a diamond image on top of that setting. I think part of the reason there is an airline is the way the setting is made. The prongs are placed inside of the halo. If you look down the page and look at "similar settings" in the middle and to the right, you can see that their prongs are placed more in the halo allowing for a closer fit. It is possible that lowering the stone might help, but your jeweler can tell you for sure.

Rings like this may be made to order, but they are not custom made to fit the stone. They probably cast the ring in several sizes such as 1.0, 1.25, 1.5 cts, etc.
