#1 might be good. request for Idealscope (IS) image.

#2 IS shows slight leakage. Not preferred.

#3 Looks good.

#4 Looks bad from the number and loupe image. I would skip that one.

Ditto SC.

If you''re looking for a lower pricepoint or to gain a little on size, you could drop to G/H VS2/SI1..

Hi akamaniac and welcome!

Lets just link these to make it easier for others to help you....

1) Has definite potential, request an Idealscope image if seriously interested.

2) Is showing slight light leakage as it is has what we call steep deep angles, the leakage isn't major but personally I would
keep looking.

3) Looks good, again an Idealscope would be useful.

4) Is showing distinct leakage, I would keep looking.

Thanks guys. I have requested the Idealscope for #1 and I should be getting it early this week.

Lorelei, the Idealscope is available for #3, do you mind giving me your opinion on it?

Would really like to pull the trigger on one by early next week.

I would be glad to! It looks as if the image is very slightly tilted which could be causing some very slightly lighter areas at around 10 o'clock region but I don't think this is an issue, its a good image and should be a lovely diamond.

I''ve yet to receive the Idealscope image from JA yet, but as I was browsing their site, I came across another RBC that, from what I can tell, looks very good, can anyone give me their advice on this one:

Item Number: 1269258
Shape: Round
Carat weight: 0.90
Cut: Hearts & Arrows Ideal
Color: H
Clarity: VS1
Certificate: AGS
Depth: 61.5%
Table: 56.7%
Polish: Ideal
Symmetry: Ideal
Girdle: Thin to medium
Culet: None
Fluorescence: Negligible
Measurements: 6.18*6.22*3.81
Crown Angle: 33.9°
Crown %: 14.60
Pavilion Angle: 40.8°
Pavilion %: 43.00

I would appreciate any and all feedback. I''ve also passed it through the Holloway Cut Adviser, and it reports back the following:
Factor Grade
Light Return: Excellent
Fire: Excellent
Scintillation: Excellent
Spread or diameter for weight: Very Good

idealscope20100202.jpg

it''s very nice.

I''m just worried about the color (H) and the clarity (VS1). Do you really think they will have any noticeable issues?

The diamond is within my budget, but I was always hoping to get D-G, and IF-VS1, and the color falls just under my minimum requirements.

H color will look perfectly colorless in the vast majority of lighting environments. If you hold it next to a D to F color diamond you will notice more warmth, but on its own it would look great. *Some* people claim that they can see body color in H color diamonds. But it is generally considered the sweet spot for value while maintaining a colorless look.

As for clarity, you can *saily* go to VS2. You cannot see inclusions with the naked eye in the VS color range.

Thanks! JA should be sending me the magnified picture of the diamond tomorrow.

As for the setting, do you think this would go good with that diamond? Correct me if I''m wrong but the picture only shows 14 diamonds, whereas the description says 16 diamonds. Am I going crazy or are 2 diamonds hidden somewhere?

I can''t really tell the amount of diamonds from the photo, it would be best to check with JA. Thats a very pretty setting.

Alright, so I finally received the magnified image of the diamond that I posted the idealscope image for earlier.
Can you all please have a look at it and tell me what you think?

Again, these are the specs:
Shape: Round
Carat weight: 0.90
Cut: Hearts & Arrows Ideal
Color: H
Clarity: VS1
Certificate: AGS
Depth: 61.5%
Table: 56.7%

Pavilion %: 43.00

This is the idealscope once again (I''m just linking to the same idealscope image that I had already uploaded previously):

Guys, based on your comments I''ll be making the purchase tomorrow morning via bank wire.. I''m kind of nervous.

Looks good.

Thanks Stone-Cold. Although I don't want to doubt someone that has 8,000+ posts, do you mind taking a couple seconds and elaborating your assessment?

It would really put my mind at ease. The pros, and cons based on what you can see.

I'm no expert but from the idealscope image, it appears that the upper portion is lighter, as compared to the lower part that appears darker. Is this because the idealscope image wasn't properly taken, or is it a property of the actual diamond? If a property, what visible impacts will this have on the performance? The HCA didn't really report anything wrong with the cut.

Just a slight tilt in the diamond.

Oh no, now I can''t unsee the tilt . Does that mean I should abandon this diamond? I thought I really found the one.

no... the diamond is just tilted when the image is taen, nothing wrong with the stone... don''t panic.. :p

akamaniac-it''s a great stone don''t worry
2.gif
sometimes diamonds are tilted a little when the image is taken, nothing to worry about. That is a beautiful setting and a gorgeous stone, it''s a great find!
