AGS0 1.507 J SI2 - What to look for in person?

First of all, a quick search on the PS diamond search shows that you can get a 1.5 J SI2 GIA and AGS stones for around 6500-8000 so it seems like you're way over paying right there (even blue nile stones are in the mid 8000s). Second, with your budget, I think you could find a very nice GIA EX/EX/EX 1.5 J SI1.

Just found this stone if you have no problems with flourescence:

Last, I hope someone will chime in on the AGS report- there seems to be a LOT of light leakage for the diamond to be considered an AGS000. Any ideas?

I'm surprised that stone received an AGS Ideal cut grade. I don't think those angles work well together. The crystals may not be eye-clean, especially if they are dark.

+1 BG Blue

No, and by judging by the AGS images there is a lot of light leakage, I wouldn't consider that stone. I don't know what your total budget is but this looks like a really beautiful stone, no tax either.

You always have to pay taxes on these purchases - FYI. If not today, then tomorrow...
Also, that stone does not seem like it will be eye clean IMO.

I hope someone else will chime in on the AGS question. I have an AGS000 and it upsets me to think that a stone like this could be considered "Ideal" :(sad

not all AGS0 are equal.

As far as the taxes go I meant the price from the jeweler around 9000 is probably not including taxes. Also love BGD but the one you are recommending also does not have a good HCA score

Light Return Very Good
Fire Good
Scintillation Good
Spread
or diameter for weight Very Good
Total Visual Performance 3.7 - Very Good - Worth buying if the price is right

wrt BGD one...HCA does not matter as the ASET/IS looks good.

I have been drooling over BGD Blues for some time now... another vote for BGD!

Is it worth it to me to get an Idealscope or ASET on this stone?

The story is I have a EGL stone now and need to buy the "updgrade" from this jeweler. Unfortunately at this moment I won't be able to buy online. I wish I could redue my original purchase but it doesnt look it that will happen.

I was under the impression that with an AGS 0 you were assured a well cut and brilliant stone. I guess my biggest question is, with all of the light leakage in the center, and the HCA score, how can this stone have been graded a 0. I guess I'm just confused (hence my name...)

Yes- I don't bother using the HCA if I have access to its IS.

Ah, farmer, I see what you mean about the taxes... still, I think the price is a bit steep.

Noobie- tough spot. I don't think it would hurt to get the IS image- but what I'm more worried with is that he seems to be charging you a lot more for what you're getting. As I stated earlier, a 1.5 J SI2 for 9K seems steep.

what are the details of the diamond you are going to be trading in for it

EGL 1.21 D color and SI1 61/59. EGL says excellent everything the leakage is horrible. It was cut for weight for sure.

Here is another thought but maybe you just want larger BGD http://www.briangavindiamonds.com/ recuts diamonds. I have a loose EGL diamond myself that I am thinking about doing this to. You loose size but the transformation is amazing. diamondseeker just had this done by him here is the link https://www.pricescope.com/community/threads/details-on-a-diamond-re-cut.160957/
I asked on the forum how much it costs and was told it is around 350 per carat, and 100-150 to send it off to be AGS certified.
