This was one of the top 100 Bill board hits:

Judy In Disguise (With Glasses), John Fred and His Playboy Band

And all this time, I thought it was ''Judy in the Skies''
25.gif

Robert Kenedy Jr. and Martin Luther King were shot.

JUDY IN DISGUISE???? since when? It''s always been Judy in the Skies, hasn''t it??

(geez, what else didn''t I get right?)

LS

LS -- I know, I know... I did a bit of a double-take when I saw that list too. Very embarrassing....

So I got to thinking --LS and I, we''re no dummies... we''ve been around the block a few times... that chart must have been wrong! So of course I hied me over to Google to check it out, and this is what I found:

[Judy in Disguise] was a parody of "Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds," which The Beatles released a year earlier. Instead of the psychedelic sound of the Beatles song, this was Bubblegum Pop, but with similarly obtuse lyrics.

When the John Fred wrote this song, he thought that the Beatles song went "Lucy in disguise with diamonds". That lyric was not intended as part of the parody and by the time he found out how the Beatles song actually went, it was too late to change it. He still considers it a testament to his own stupidity. This is straight from his mouth.

I''m not feeling so quite as stupid now. (not about this, anyway!)

Ask your mom if she ever got sent home for wearing too short of a skirt? We used to roll our skirts up at the waistband to make them shorter (scandalous huh?)
31.gif
Too funny- she has the exact same stories! They had to kneel on the floor and if their skirt didn''t touch the ground, they were sent home.

Only rich people had color tv. Girls set their hair with ''spoolies''. The Beatles were hot. No pantyhose in our neck of the woods-we wore garter belts and sanitary napkin belts.
I remember how much I hated these belts (they were always twisting)...I was 13 in 1969 and a few years later Stayfree pads came out. I was so happy!

I also watched tv at a friend''s house every Friday night. They had a color console tv.

31.gif
My mom is a 1957 baby, but she and her sisters were labeled "The Wild [InsertTheirLastNameHere] Girls" for wearing short skirts and go-go boots to their very conservative church functions. No one would associate with them. If they could see her now, beautiful at 52, but wearing mom jeans (a habit I've been trying to break for a very long time).

when I was 13 I bought my first pair of hip hugger bell bottoms( OMG what I would give to wear them now), but I couldnt wear them to school because we
had to wear dresses (private school).

when you bought maxi pads- the boxes were so big that they stuck out of the brown paper bag about 10 inches, and I always went to the lady checker and
prayed she wouldnt yell out " Price check on Maxi Pads Aisle 10!". Then prayed I wouldnt see anyone I knew walking home!

I loved Sonny & Cher and Donny and Marie!

Was an 8th grade cheerleader

Loved to slow-dance with the boys!

When I turned 13, my Mom threw a JAWS themed beach birthday party for me...the movie had just come out and it scared the you know what out of us! She even drew the picture of the shark going for the girl swimmer on the invitations.
