Finish the below sentence...

"When I was 13..."

When I was 13, we didn''t have cordless phones and I went and bought a long phone jack line so I could drag the phone through the house into my room to talk to people. We had to make emergency breakthroughs if we wanted to talk to someone if the line was busy because we did not have call waiting.

Hmmm... I guess I''ll follow your phone example!

When I was 13, my family had one cellphone that we all shared (for emergencies only), I seem to remember it being a motorola startac?

When I was 13 there were no atm machines. If you needed cash, you had to go to your bank.

When I was 13, none of my family had a mobile phone and I used to get 20p for pocket money a week.

When I was 13, my family didn''t have a microwave. I think my parents were the last people on Earth to get one.

when i was thirteen, they finally freed willy. no joke!

when I was 13, I finally got my braces off

When I was 13, my family got our first computer. Pentium (one) processor and 1.2GB hard drive, baby. I was kinda jealous of my friend because a couple months later, her family got the 1.4GB model and it was SO MUCH cooler than ours.

When I was 13, I would listen to music either on my step fathers 8 track tape player or on my record player. Somewhere around that age, I got a record player that would record onto a casette tape. Kids at school were trading mix tapes. That dates me, I know others on here knew the power of a good mix tape in Jr. High!

When I was 13, cell phones were not around and the internet did not exist. Nobody had computers in their homes. My mother worked as a secretary and had and IBM selectric in our home so she could get overtime work from her boss.

When I was 13, NEON was big. Neon shirts, neon socks, neon anything.

When I was 13 and I wanted to talk on the phone, I had to stay in the kitchen or my mom's bedroom and was attached to the phone by the spiral twisty cord.

When I was 13, my dad still had a rotary phone. And as if that was not enough he did not own it, he rented it from the phone company!!!! My mom was more progressive and had one push button and one rotary. And the phones were hardwired into the wall!

Hehehe, fun!

Would have been fitting if he were...he has the communication skills of Goofy.

When I was 13....

ATM''s did not exist. You had a passbook for the bank. I remember when the bank I had started to refuse to do in store cash withdrawals - to get customers to use the newfangled ATM outside!
No cell phones
No internet
Airfares were something you saved for - no cheap flights
It was not appropriate to have your ta-ta''s or thong on show...ever
Jeans covered your a$$ and navel - at the same time!
Hair straightners did not exist; no GHD
Brown Thomas was Cash''s (I still call it Cash''s

)
You could get in and out of a lingerie store in under 15mins including queuing time - no tee shirt bras, push up this, strap down that, chicken fillets in those days
We had our beloved £IR punt

How I miss it...

I rewound my audio tapes with a pen/pencil and recorded new songs from the radio to save money
The VCR was brought home and I recorded cool movies off the TV - commercials and all

I hated rotary phones. And if you were not sure, you had to start all over again. Come to think of it, people made a lot more wrong number accidental calls.

OH, and no caller ID. Slumber parties and making crank calls were a big thing. Now I can''t imagine not having caller ID

When I was 13 . . . .

. . . we got cable TV for the first time--a whopping 11 channels! I didn''t know what to do with all the choices!
. . . we were using our first computer--a Commodore 64
. . . cell phones didn''t exist. My dad had a radio phone for emergency medical call.
. . . I finally got my own bedroom!!!!

OMG

here goes...

When I was 13, the one phone in the house was the black rotary dial WALL MOUNTED phone in the kitchen. Very short cord so we had to stay in the room to talk to anyone.....

When I was 13, when I went to the corner store for Maxi Pads, the store lady brought them down from the tallest shelf. They were wrapped in plain brown paper.
