After being laid off last week, my new exciting journey starts Monday!

Some of you may recall me posting (here) about being laid off last week. Well, after crunching numbers and talking it over with the hubs, I just went ahead and enrolled in the first course through GIA. I'm about to get schooled on all things shiny!

Best wishes for your GG. As a PSer you should breeze through the Diamond Essentials class. The fun begins when the GIA sends you diamonds to plot and grade.
The Gem ID class is pretty intense. You practice using gemological instruments e.g. refractometer, dicroscope, etc. to identify unknown gems. The final is an open book 20-stone test, misidentify one and you fail.
@Wink and I have talked about this and he knew students who failed.
