Hi All,
I've been browsing this website and a couple others for the past week and there seems to be some super knowledgeable folks on here. I've been looking at round cut diamonds for a solitaire engagement ring (14k white gold). My budget (out the door) is $4300 and at this point I can't make up my mind. I've considered buying at Costco, but I'm leaning towards getting it online. They have it priced at $3,680 so it's well within my budget. I'd appreciate any advice as to whether or not this would be the ideal diamond for my budget.

Please do not buy at costco...the stone your looking at from JA .81 has a .9 HCA score that is excellent. It looks nice

That being said I'd consider going up in color and down in clarity. I see a bit of color when I look at this stone VVs2 is way over kill. I'd rather balance is with a G or H stone with an eye clean si1 clarity. Just make sure that it i eye clean. Have you looked at WF, Brian Gavin or GOG.......

Cut is the most important, and it looks as if this is an AGSL Ideal cut, that is good.....color I will still look nice and white in a setting. You could save some money if you could find a similar stone in a VS2 or even a SI1 in clarity, but don't sacrifice doing so with a stone that is not as well cut.

Paying for vvs clarity is literally paying for something you can't see. Not that it's not a lovely stone, but you could pay the same price for larger stone or a lower price on the same size stone.

At the size your looking at I'd shop for an I (I think you were very smart picking an I color) and si1, or if one is not around, a vs2

Like this one, I'd see if they add that to your reserved stone, also are you asking for the pricescope discount?

If you went with the WF, this seems to be the nicest setting in your budget for a solitaire. But I don't know if you'd consider it her style.

Both are Ideals, but I agree with you, I would go with the H stone, also I like the depth better. Put it on hold before someone else.
