Advice with setting a M coloured stone

Hello beautiful ladies,

I am extremely new to this forum and was hoping to seek advice from all of you fellow bling lovers out there :) I have a 3ct M coloured OEC i was hoping to set in a simple round bezel setting. The stone itself is pretty white for a M and whilst I do embrace her tint, I do want a setting which would make her a little bit whiter.

Thoughts on a yellow gold vs white gold setting?

Does anyone have examples of a M coloured oec in either a white or yellow gold bezel? I know I’m asking for a lot here in terms of specifics :???:
Thanking you!

I love warm diamonds in rose gold, but it doesn’t make them look whiter. It sort of embraces their color. To make it look whiter, I would recommend unplated white gold. I’d love to see pictures of your OEC!

@Tigger036 I’m in a similar situation with my new M color diamond. After conducting some experiments I am going with platinum.

That’s a brilliant experiment! Do you have an alternate experiment with a yellow tone that you could share pics on? :) I’m so torn ... one minute, i’m thinking white gold, next minute, I‘m thinking of yellow gold. Heck at this rate, i’ll end up resetting it in the year 2030! Haha

Unfortunately I don’t have a brass washer! However, my ring clip is gold toned. I have noticed that my M looks a tad warmer in the gold tone clip.

Uh oh, to me the gold tone clip seems a little whiter! This is a ridiculously hard choice! Are you planning to set yours soon?

@elizat that setting is especially gorgeous. Did Sako do that one?

@Tigger036 I hope to set my stone in the next few weeks. The setting I love is a very specific Deco look that needs a white metal.

I have an N colour AVC (sb fluorescence) that all in all faces up pretty white. I originally had it set in 18k white gold and it looked white most of the time. In some lightings and on certain angles you certainly saw the N colour. I have recently had my avc set into an 18k rose gold setting and I love it, this diamond really feels like she's home! I agree with @Tourmaline setting these coloured diamonds in a warmer colours just brings out such a different side to them. The colours it throws is amazing (in both wg & rg) but to my eye it just seems better suited to the rg.
You have a tough choice to make, I'll attach a bazillion photos for you so you can see the range of colours that my N throws! The first 3 are the wg setting then the rest are in rg. Good luck!

The rose gold setting is just beautiful ... I love how the stone takes on pink hues!
