Advice please on IDJ jacket for diamond studs!

So on a whim today, I purchased IDJ earring jackets for my 5.5mm diamond studs (they are 0.6 ct each for a total of 1.2 ct). I had reached out to IDJ before I had even gotten my studs earlier in the year because I was thinking it would be nice to get earring jackets. The earring jackets they quoted me sounded much too big for my studs. The original quote by email was 14 diamonds were side for 3 pointers. Another company I talked to mentioned that 14 diamonds per side was too big and that they recommended 12 diamonds per side for 3 pointers. I decided that it would be better not to get the jackets until I saw them in person.

I happened to have an opportunity to go to IDJ today and see the jackets in person. I immediately saw a pair of jackets that were 11 diamonds per side for the 3 pointers. I thought that they fit my studs pretty well and got them without trying any other sizes. Now I that I look at then more, I am wondering if they sit too high and if I should get one size up. The sales lady said that one size up would be too big and I would have an airline but didn’t try it (I don’t know if they had the size). What do you guys think? Does it fit as it should or should the diamond be more inside of the jacket? I definitely do not want an airline but I am not sure if the diamond is supposed to sit flush with the jacket or not.

It looks good how you have it. When I’ve tried them on for 6mm studs that is how mine looked. I like the step-up look compared to the everything-flush look though for earrings better.

Thanks, I think these jackets are the ones for 5mm stones so I am wondering if I should get the jackets for 6mm stones instead (I believe they do not have jackets for 5.5mm).
