Ok, I think I have decided on a ring and I was able to get the GF''s opinion on it (showed her these rings with a bunch of ''dummy'' rings to make sure she would like them - and she did).

I wanted to see if anyone owned one of these and get people''s opinions of buying online without seeing it. One thing I am nervous about is how much of an effect the engraving on the side has. She would prefer no engraving, but when she commented on this one it didn''t bother her because it was in a small, focused spot. But, I am worried about buying a ring online without seeing it first to make sure it is what I had in mind, especially when I have a reservation about it like this(the engraving).

There are Tacori dealers in my city that I am sure can get this for me but I wanted to see if anyone had suggestions of reputable online dealers that might have it. The only one I have seen is this Dealer

Here are the pics, any advice / opinions would be helpful.

I think I may go with the Emerald setting, but I haven''t decided. (I have also heard you shouldn''t buy emerald cuts online because you need to see them in person - is this true?)

That''s a beautiful ring! Buying without seeing it in person is a personal thing- I would have a hard time with it but lots of people on here do it and are very happy. One thing I would suggest is finding several sites that carry the ring so you can see pictures from different angles, with different sized center stones, etc.

I don''t think I''ve seen this particular ring in person, but Tacori does beautiful engraving work. Their rings tend to be quite intricate that way (lots of tiny details and engraving) but this one looks more simple than most. In any event, it might be worth a trip to a local jeweler to see other Tacori rings just to make sure you like the vibe.

Good luck and congratulations!

Tacori makes each ring to order so if you want to add engraving, change engraving, eliminate engraving, change diamonds to gemstones, gemstones to diamonds, change diamond shape it is all possible. For example my setting is made for a RB. We ordered it for an EC at no extra cost. I always suggest buying a name brand setting from a local dealer (since there are few discounts on them). That way if you lose a melee or need it sized you have a local contact. We also bought our EC local. I suggest if you want to buy online (which there are many good PS vendors) you have them send you the stones to see them in person. You CANNOT buy an EC off numbers. Good luck!

ETA: bigdiamonds has an excellent point. Tacori dealers has a huge binder of designs (most not on their website). Also they have many sample rings. I thought I wanted one and hated how it looked on my hand. While there I fell in love with my current setting.

I love it, it looks really elegant! I like it better with the emerald cut, but this is a preference thing. I''d get what she likes better.

I would recommend Good Old Gold to help you with your diamond and setting. They are excellent to deal with and they sell Tacori settings as well. Even if they don''t show an emerald cut that meets your specs at the moment, they will search for one for you from their suppliers. They also often find people beautiful square emeralds, also called asschers. This process is much easier if you can get the stone and setting from the same vendor. You have to have the stone before you order the setting so the head of the ring can be made to fit your stone.
