Hi Ammalley,

Going by any written measurements may not be
a very predictable way of establishing the beauty
of a princess cut diamond.

If this is an online purchase, the help of visual diamond grading aids may be more helpful.

If this is from a B&M store, perhaps examining the stone for yourself would be advisable.

Or you may opt to have the diamond examined by an independent appraiser prior to purchase to get an expert opinion.

Do you know crown angles/height and pavilion angles/depth? I inspect princess cuts daily and have a grasp of what the most brilliant stones proportions are.

Hello,

No I don't have that information. But any other comments you have would be greatly appreciated since it would be an internet purchase and I can't see it!

Thank you!

Ask the jeweler to provide you with photo's,
BrillianceScope report, and IdealScope so that
you can 'see' the diamond, examine it's light output,
and determine the areas of light leakage.

Otherwise, since you can't physically see the stone,
you're buying blind.

Amalley,

Have you seen the stone? Do you like it?

Is the price reasonable (can you post it)? Does it have GIA or other grading report?

Do you plan to check it with independent appraiser?

If so, relax and enjoy it.

Alternatively, you can also buy a nice princess from Rhino/Jonathan, Barry or other vendors who advertise on Pricescope but not me 'cause I'm just fooling around :cheeky:

Hello,

It does have a GIA certification and is priced at $13,674.

Does that sound reasonable to you?

Thanks for your help!

Quite! Check the stone with independent appraiser to be certain :)

Thanks!

I'm a little nervous about buying via the internet, but am unable to check the stone out for myself. In your opinion, is it ok to buy from an online retailer who has been mentioned on the forum? I don't want to list a particular name, but generally speaking??

Actually, I think it is good idea to mention on the forum who you're dealing with - you'll get the best attention :)

Ok,

Any comments on Dirt Cheap Diamonds??

You should be ok with Jim. :)
