Hello,

I am looking at GIA 5181589599. Can you provide insights of what you think about this diamond. As well, can you provide a reasonable price range in Canadian Dollars? Finally, you can see the inclusion when you look at the diamond from underneath, it just looks like a little black dot. But when you look from the top or side, you can not see anything with your eye, the jeweler told me the inclusion is not a big deal because no one looks at your ring from underneath. Any ways, any advice would be appreciated. Thanks!

Caution: tread carefully. Clouds & pinpoint inclusions are not shown.
Have you seen this diamond, yourself, or are you relying on the jeweler's observations?

Hello thanks for your reply. Yes as mentioned above, I can see the inclusion when you look at the diamond from underneath, it just looks like a little black dot. From the top and side I can't see anything. I also looked at it under magnification, and the same is true.

YOUR eyes are the best judgmental tools you can use, in searching for diamonds. Numbers & stats aren't everything.
If your eyes are satisfied with the stone, you must decide if that is, alone, enough information you need to pull the trigger.

Thanks for your thoughts. I guess I was just wondering if from the stats and numbers if I am missing anything. And I was hoping someone could give me an idea of what kind of price range I should be paying. I definitely agree though that my eyes and satisfaction are most important at the end of the day!

How much is the asking price by the jeweler?

$10k Canadian for this diamond. Comparable diamonds by stats at other jewelers (like spence diamonds) were $13+ k.

I have found comparable prices other places online. It depends on what you truly are looking for.

I am looking for something similar to the diamond I have posted here. Just to confirm, are you saying $10k would seem reasonable then?

You can get such a stone for 5k plus buying online. Run a search on rarecarat.com to look at alternatives.

Around 7k cad plus any tax requirements.

The numbers/angles on on the edge of being ideal, the depth is higher than preferred. Can they provide you with an Ideals scope or ASET image (or can you take one yourself). That will really tell you about performance.

Assuming I've done the math right, $10k cad - 13% (tax) =$8700 cad. Using that value, I can find some good options that are bigger and around the same cost. Here are a few I would pursue (although BN won't provide IS or ASET). If I've messed this up, maybe give us your budget in USD for the diamond and we can look again.

https://www.bluenile.com/ca/diamond-details/LD09556545, 1.22 G SI1 6.91 mm (this is a 60/60 style diamond which will return more white light than fire, but is spready for its weight)

Thanks for the reply! Those are some great options as well. How would I go about taking an ideals scope or ASET image myself?

We'll you'll have to buy the diamond and have it in your hands. But, you can buy a kit that will allow you to take images.

The other alternative is for us to look at what we can find for you in USD (~$6700 usd). I played with the color and clarity to see what is out there,.

https://www.jamesallen.com/loose-di...i-color-vs1-clarity-excellent-cut-sku-3549402 {7.02 mm, really pretty, you could put this on hold and then ask for an ASET; confirm I've done the conversion correct :mrgreen2:}

https://www.jamesallen.com/loose-di...-color-vvs1-clarity-excellent-cut-sku-3438075 {6.85 mm, really clean and bright. Like the angles)

https://www.whiteflash.com/loose-diamonds/round-cut-loose-diamond-3801997.htm {this pushes your budget a bit and its a bit smaller, but it has super-ideal performance; 6.69 mm}
