Hello, I have been reading a lot here, all the info and help is fantastic and very much appreciated! I understand that HCA scores are only meant to be used as a guide and that you don't really need them if you have an idealscope image, however, I'm not really sure how to judge the idealscope images. Take this one for example:

I thought it looked good but the diamond got a HCA score of 2.6. Is there something wrong with this idealscope image? Can anyone advise?

Thanks so much.

You didn't post the IS, but from the picture, it looks gorgeous.

Here it is :D

Sorry, I don't know why the link didn't work, but given the pic above, any opinions?

Looks fantastic.

Im no expert but isn't there too much white on the image. I thought the goal is to have the image bleed red.

Alba,

Here's the link to the Ideal Scope reference chart
http://www.ideal-scope.com/1.using_reference_chart.asp

Ideally, the diamond should be a fairly consistent red throughout. Based on the JA Idealscope image, I would say it's a "very good" but not "excellent" based on the interspaced white spots at the tips of the arrows and in the space between them. One thing to notice too is that the inner circle is a different shade of red than the outer circle.
