Hello all,

Newbie here to the forum and the whole engagement ring topic.

While browsing through pinterest, my girlfriend stumbled upon this ring that she absolutely fell in love with.

I contacted the jeweler about creating something more in my budget $2-2.5k. He responded with no problem but stressed that I would be limited on choices for setting metals and size/count of stones.
From the initial conversation it sounds like in the 2k range I would be looking at a fairly small center stone (.5-.6 carat) with 8-10 amethyst and palladium setting. For 2.5 I would be able to up the center stone a tiny bit and move to 14k white gold.

What is everyones opinion on the value presented by this jeweler and what would your recommendations be on diamond size, number of amethyst and metal type?

My girlfriend is pretty small and has about a 3.75-4 ring size. The above should take this into consideration.

Thanks!

Thats a bummer to hear about the amethysts, they are her birthstone along with her favorite color.
I will speak with the jeweler about purple sapphires instead. You're ring is beautiful! Perhaps 10-fold out of my price range, haha.

How about the diamond recommendations and setting metal?

Besides contacting Wink I would contact ID Jewelry as I think they are amazing when it comes to working on a budget.

And I quite agree with using purple sapphires over Ammy's. On another note if you don't care you can get dark heated purple sapphires that will look extremely similar to the purple sapphires in the halo and they perhaps have a surprize ammy in the band or in the basket.
