Hi all! Long time lurker, infrequent poster, would like the experts to weigh in on these 2 diamonds I found on I.D. Jewelry (after reading a few glowing posts about them). Now I know the diamonds are not graded by GIA/AGO; hence, the price reflects that. I'm wondering if I buy from a reputable company and tell them exactly what I want, perhaps certification is not so significant after all. I am really looking for at least a 1.5 carat, round, up to Si2 (but eye-clean), up to J in color, and at least good cut/symmetry/polish. I would hope to keep it around 6000 "ish." Thanks in advance to all those who took the time to respond!!! :D

The answer really is no, you don't want to buy an uncertified stone. And you will be looking at a 1-1.3 ct stone at $6000.

You want excellent in cut and at least very good in symmetry and polish.

These are examples of stones that ID Jewelry can probably call in for you and offer you a lower price than you see here, but James Allen offers pretty good prices:

http://www.jamesallen.com/diamonds/J-SI2-Ideal-Cut-Round-Diamond-1460224.asp (this one looks like it has good inclusions for an SI2)

grest suggestions!

Thanks sooo much Dreamer D, Amy Bling, and Diamond Seeker, especially, for taking the time to look up those alternatives for me. I will ask ID Jewelry about those particular diamonds.

Re: Advice on 2 Diamonds...Update

Hi all (especially Diamondseeker)

I was able to talk to Yuketiel on the phone & he says he will be able to get those diamonds Diamondseeker had suggested to inspect on Monday. I will keep you all posted and thanks, again, for everyone's input!
