Advice on 2 AGS0 with only ASET images (no Idealscope)?

Hi guys, been lurking for some time and have learned a lot - thank you! When I thought I found one that I liked, another popped up and now I am a bit torn. May I ask some of the experts here to shed their thoughts on which may be better?

All round diamonds, similar priced with Stone 2 a little cheaper. Stone 1 has an Idealscope image but Stone 2 doesn't. Do I need one to make a final decision or would the ASET images suffice?

have you checked with the vendor that they are eye-clean to your specs?

I am still waiting for confirmation from vendor on Stone 2 (supposed to be eye clean), but Stone 1 is eye-clean. FYI, attached clarity plots. Stone 1 looks pretty good, but not so sure about that big crystal in the middle of Stone 2...

Wow, that's a huge crystal. I doubt it's eye-clean unless it's clear. Stone 1 looks nice.

I think in most cases an AGS Ideal along with the computer generated ASET on the report is enough information, but I still prefer to have an actual image for confirmation if it's not too much trouble.

In my newbie opinion. Stone #1 has better symmetry? At the center, where the arrows meet, stone #1 is more evenly distributed, unlike #2, very sloppy and all over.

Sometimes that can be due to scanner/computer error, that's why I prefer to have actual images for confirmation.

Ahh, did not know that. Thank you for your clarification.

thbmok: by actual image, do you mean a photo of the diamond, or an Idealscope image? Unfortunately I have neither at this point. Stone 2 is from bluenile and as you are probably aware, they're not too into giving out photos or Idealscope images. It's not one of their signature ideals. FWIW, stone 1 is ACA from WF so there are photos for that but won't be able to compare with stone 2. By branding, I suppose ACA wins out, but I'm wondering whether the slightly bigger, slightly better color grade, and slightly cheaper stone 2 would be better. That crystal though...

100: I agree with you that stone 1 does look like it has better symmetry.. but unfortunately I don't have the images to confirm at this point (which I wish I did!).

I prefer to have everything: actual photo, IS, and ASET. But any one of them gives a better idea of what it actually looks like vs just a computer simulated image.

Agreed! I'm not sure how I can get any of that from bluenile unfortunately... (suggestions welcomed)

Attached photos of stone 1 though... any thoughts?

That one hands down!!! you would not notice any difference in size between those two. images look great, plus great policies/can verify if eye-clean/etc

#1 for me too!

1. You're getting a great stone, and you *know* exactly what you're getting
2. Generous upgrade/trade-in/buyback policies from WF, vs. none on non-signature stones from BN
3. They have the stone in-house and can inspect it should you have any questions or concerns
4. Proof of nice hearts pattern

Yssie: You're right - I think the fact that I know what I'm buying gives Stone 1 from WF a big boost. Without any information from bn other than the cert... kind of hard to swing that way! I guess that's what the refund policy is for...

For those interested, stone 2 was supposed to be eye clean from the top/table, but the crystal is visible from the side, according to the rep who heard it from someone with access to the stone.
