Hello
I've been still quietly searching for an oval for my e-ring upgrade and of course, always really appreciate the advice I get on this forum so thank you!

Opinions on this one would be much appreciated:
2.7
G, SI1
Strong Fluorescence
Ex, Ex

Certificate and screenshots of the videos they sent attached (files too large to upload). I'm not convinced these are great videos and apparently ASET image not available??

Many thanks

I can't speak for others, but I really need a video for fancies. Can you post it on an offsite server like Google Drive or on Youtube via a private link.

Ditto...we need the video.

Plus, I dont like having to down load things/files on my machine.

I won't even click on some links after I downloaded spyware that caused me to re-format my hard-drive. :(2

I downloaded to my Google Docs so hope this helps

In theory I am a fan of not-deep cut stones (59.5%) with small tables (54%) - somewhat uncommon & interesting.

No complaint about fluorescence - I am a fan.

No enthusiasm for the Ex finish - these are invisible qualities.

The reflecting inclusion at 8 o'clock seems fairly prominent - I would not have guessed as much from the GIA plot.

I find it intriguing but full of compromises !

Ps.

This is a 59/54* pear with a spready bow-tie covering a large sector of the stone [similar to your oval], that I thougt was nice - WWW ; likely not the brightest thing, but with interesting play of light - rather obvious from David's presentation (why compare a pear & an oval ! - they are somewhat similarly modified brilliant models...)

I only know of two sources for classical ovals drastically selected for fine cut - a new brand by @Rhino & AOP above-mentioned.

An ASET shot might prove the 2.7 oval to be a brighter stone than I believe - e.g. with all the broad bow-tile lighting up (ASET RED) & more of the same at the ends - like this: WWW (video); bright is bright ! - a good thing, beyond personal enthusiasm (yours I couldn't guess, mine above-mentioned & more below).

If I were shopping for a large-ish oval now, I'd want these - WWW - a rather different breed of elongated shape with rounded contour, that few might call an 'oval' at all.

Just a thought ...

* the two numbers might not say much, but they do tell something - especially being somewhat out of the ordinary

I did take a look over 2.5 - 3.1 ovals listed with videos at the usual sources - first up to 30K, then open-ended - & could not find one I would consider better than the 2.7. Of course, there is no ASET ifnormation anywhere - so I if I did find something to advocate it would have been more for taste (for what it doesn't matter) than technicalities.

over & out

It looks like it has a pretty big bow tie in the center. Is that okay with you? Finding well cut ovals is hard. Jonathan of August Vintage just created a well cut oval, but they likely will run higher than generic ones.

This stone would not work for me due to the bow-tie...too much darkness showing up.

Did you share your specs and budget? We might be able to find something that has a little nicer faceting pattern (lots of eyes here on PS).

Thank you! Yes I agree I've stared long and hard at the videos but I can't I see the bow tie. Damn... thought this might be the one.

Chasing an oval with dims 11mm x 8mm. I've found what I think is my sweet spot weight wise which is around 2.7 carats (i.e I've found a few stones this weight which still gives me dimensions I'm after)

Colour H or better. Clarity not so fussy as long as it's eye clean (Si1)

Budget ideally $20-$21k max!

Many thanks

I've looked at BN, JA, and GoG down to SI2 and I think you need to figure out where your criteria are flexible. Size/spread? Color? Budget?

You need to check out the video of @Rhino's new August Vintage Signature Oval...
