Advice needed regarding Tacori setting

The setting in question is this one in platinum
http://www.tacori.com/engagement/2620rdsm.html

We purchased this setting at a discount from a jeweller that was discontinuing its contract to be an authorized Tacori dealer and so they were clearing out their stock rings.

I do realize now that this may preclude us from the Tacori warranty - this also means that most likely we will need to rely on the jeweller to set the diamond and size the ring. And yes I have spent many hours pouring over the horror stories of how this can be messed up so I am prepared for that possibility which is why I am looking from some input from others.

BUT I did receive from the jeweller the exact dimension of the stone that the setting will hold and plan on purchasing one to fit - so I am hoping that this setting is straightforward enough that it might not cause issues? As far as sizing goes, there is no pave or crescent design on the band - and it is only slightly loose - probably half a size max - maybe even doable to use sizing beads. Also this is an extremely reputable jeweller we have worked with in the past with no issues.

So my question is am I being totally naive? or might this situation work out okay for me? Is there anything I haven't considered? Or should i just turn around today and return the ring? Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

I think you are fine. For me personally I think the Tacori warranty isn't anything to write home about. I don't love the idea that if it needs work you need to send it out for 6 weeks. If your jeweler is good then they can fix whatever the problem is. Also with sizing as you stated there is nothing on the shank so sizing shouldn't be a issue especially with only it being 1/2 a size. If you got the ring at a good price below typical costs I would personally keep it. It is a pain to find a diamond to fit a setting but I'm guessing it is for a regular 6.5mm diamond or something close to that?

FWIW I bought a Tacori setting second hand. It was about 65% off retail so I was thrilled. No warranty but I could care less. I almost always would rather go with a great local place that has a bench on site vs. sending it out for weeks at a time.

Hello! I just want to add that my ring is currently with Tacori and was told that it would take 12 - 15 days before I got it back, and it could have been done sooner, however, they stated that they currently had a high volume. I will be getting my ring this Friday, which is exactly within the time-frame that they originally quoted me. Hope that helps to ease any worries about sending it in, if in fact you ever decide to do so! Obviously it depends on what work is needed on the ring.

Good luck!
