Hello everyone

I am wanting to finally try lab grown diamonds and hope to seek good advice from the group…

I am looking at purchasing a 2.36 J VS1 round lab grown diamond to try it out

Here is a link to the 360 view of the actual stone:https://loupe360.com/diamond/LG499190260/video/500/500

I tried to use the HCA tool and got 1.5 score (photo attached as well)

Attached is the IGI Certificate.

I would like to know:
1. Is this a good stone
2. Is it a good price at $1000CAD per carat (around $778USD per carat)? This price is inclusive of the net cost to ship the stone to Canada with taxes and conversion rates…

Thank you in advance!

Hi Pk888,

I'm going to try to have a go on this =)2

Proportions are great! If possible, try to request the ASET scope of it.

For lab growns, what I learnt is that some may have stria (depending on the quality of growth process), which results in birefringence diamond. Stria appears as fine lines or ''crumpled paper'' in the diamond that can affect the way how lights refracts within the diamond. I'm suspecting there are some stria for yours where I circled out.

Out of curiosity, would you consider a higher color? Since it's lab growns, I think the price difference for higher color grades will be marginable. I know for CVD growths, they are often brownish in color and require a HPHT process to remove the brown. Depending on how well it is done, most of the brown hues can be removed. From the photo, I can't really tell if its more yellow or brown, but I feel its worth to consider a higher color to be safe.

That being said, the price of $778USD per carat is crazily cheap! I checked out Brilliant Earth. For the same specs, it would be going for about USD 3,700 (USD 1,600 per carat)!

I agree with Victor Ang! The stone looks very well cut and the price is great. If the vendor has it in-hand, you could ask them if the striae are causing any haziness or birefringence.

If you would consider a higher color, here are two stones I would recommend.

Thank you very much for your responses…

I tried to order the diamond and will be shipped tomorrow or Friday. Will update as soon as I receive it

We can't tell much from the photo, but if you love it, that's what matters.
