I would also get the larger centre stone and opt for a classic setting. I also like this idea because it allows for more pairings of wedding bands. That way if styles should change the classic engagement ring will remain timeless. I also think that overpaying for an IF is not a great way to spend you hard earned dollars. You do know your fiance best though.
