Advice needed on potentially resetting my cushion cut ring

You'll have to forgive me as I am a diamond novice and my engagement ring is the only non-cluster diamond jewelry I own, so I will do my best to explain.

I like cushion cut diamonds but I like ones that look square, with straighter more defined lines. My diamond is large, a little over 2 carats, and sparkly, but something about the shape really irritates me. It is more rounded and lacks definition. For reference, the first two pictures show the kind of cushion cut I like, and the third is mine. My friend suggested that the prongs look a bit lumpy, not symmetrical and different sized and that maybe the the ring could be reset with different prongs in such a way that I could achieve the more square, defined look as far as the eye is concerned.

Does anyone have any input? I'm worried that I will reset it and it might actually look worse and more round rather than more square.

Thank you in advance!

The 2 examples have much straighter sides than yours - yours are quite curved, which makes the stone look rounder.

Yup! I'm aware of that which is why I'm asking if resetting in another style might help give the illusion of straighter lined. The prongs look bad to me regardless of the stone shape as well

I really don't think changing the setting will solve your issue. But maybe if you go with a halo you might create the illusion. Here's what I did with my ring.

Before. Notice the shape. This is after:

I think the prongs accentuate the roundness of your cushion, but so does the band. Your band has much sharper lines than the bands in the other two settings, making it clash with the cushion.

Thank you, what kind of prongs would you suggest? I really hate rounded bands (like the Tiffany band) so I want to avoid that, I'm open to a pave band like the first setting though

Wow big difference! Thanks for sharing. Unfortunately even though I love halos, my fiancé hates them and has put a categorical restriction on a halo setting :-(

Have you thought about fishtail prongs? They are more of an antique look so may not be what you are looking for but should help to give you corners on your stone.

Edit...problem is that I think you will have to go with a wholetter new setting to get fish tail prongs.

What about a more squared-off bezel that doesn't exactly follow the outline of your stone? You might lose some light return, but you'd get the more linear shape you're after.

This one looks a little heavy to me, but I'm sure you could do a more delicate one.
