Advice needed on loose diamond

Hi everyone,
New and inexperienced here....I just purchased this diamond and it scored a 2.6 on the HCA and appears to be a very nice, bright, eye-clean diamond. However, I'm getting second thoughts and am considering going a little bigger and looking for a 1.5ct SI1 with an Ex rather than Ideal cut for around the same price or a little more.

Any opinions on the stone and the price paid would be greatly appreciated. I would also appreciate any thoughts or advice on my thoughts of moving up to a 1.5ct but dropping down in clarity. I understand how difficult it is to find an SI1 that is eye clean, and don't know if it would be worth the time and effort for not much of a jump in size. Especially since this does seem to be a very nicely cut diamond - Thanks in advance for any advice or opinion provided!!

Is the I VS2 in the link the one you already bought, or a second one you are considering? Because you said your stone scored a 2.6 HCA but the one in the link scores a 4.4.

My mistake..., I mistakenly stated the HCA in my previous post...it did score a 4.4 as you pointed out. The I VS2 is the diamond I purchased.

Well, I would return it because it looks as if it may have a ring of leakage. You can do much better than that on cut. I prefer VS2 and up for clarity, so that is just a personal preference thing. But I would get a better cut GIA Excellent than that one.

Thanks for the advice. I've been doing further research and pretty much determined that the cut wasn't as superb as I expected. Any thoughts on the following:

I like the stats you've chosen; the very clean SI1 maximizes your budget and the G colour is very white. In terms of cut, I'll be frank and admit to being biased in favour of FICs over TICs, so I like this 1.9 FIC a lot. The arrow pattern also looks very organized and complete. It should be a dazzler. JA will provide IS and ASET testing, so go ahead and request those for verification of great light performance.

Thanks for your opinion and advice. I agree with you on the FICs, from what I've seen (limited) I'm leaning that way also. However, I wish it was a G color, it's an I color which I feel should be sufficient. Thanks again!
