Hi there,
I have an asscher engagement ring and am currently looking for a wedding band to match. I had decided on a wedding ring (like the first and second image) but since speaking to my jeweller (who also created my engagement ring) he has as advised me against it.
The jeweller is able to make it no problem but mentioned that during his time as a jeweller he has seen a number of the baguettes bands look tired and uneven due to the diamonds moving slightly over the years and that bagguetts are never going to be 100% the same side by side. He also mentioned that they tend to look dark with the buildup of grease and grim over time which is difficult to remove with little sparkle.
His suggestion was to have the same band but with assher cuts instead (3rd and 4th image) he said it would look nicer over time as asshers are easier to purchase square and I wont run the risk of them looking uneven over time, plus they will sparkle more. I appreciate that step cuts dont sparkle as much as rounds etc but I was hoping to gain some sparkle!
I really do prefer the look of the baguettes to the asscher with my ring, does anyone have any advice? Also, would it make a difference to the sparkle and/or movement if I were to have claw set or channel set?
Thank you
