Advice needed on advisability of using this old bezel semi-mount for a spinel

Hello, wise ones of PS.

I bought a spinel from Finewater Gems, and am working on a setting.

I found one on Etsy that I like, and I want to know if it will work? The seller said it will need prongs on top, and I haven’t seen that done before.
Any feedback would be welcomed!

Honestly for what it would cost you to buy that setting and get it modified for the stone, you could send the pics to DK and they could make you a copy of that style that would fit your stone perfectly.

I'm actually having something very similar made right now, east/ west bezel, in platinum for not much more

Have you looked at Ivy & Rose already? They have lots of setting in the same general style of what you posted but they‘d new and possibly less $ than buying that preloved setting and modifying it.
