Advice Needed For Princess Cut Diamond Ring

I'm looking to buy an engagement ring with a princess cut diamond.

This stone from BG is a good example of what I'm looking for and what my budget is:

I was hoping the experts on the forum could weigh in on whether it's a good stone for the money of if there are better options to be had.

Also, I've found a platinum setting from WF that I really like:

My gut feeling is that it would be better to get the stone and setting from the same place, is this the wrong way to think about it? Unfortunately I can't find a similar setting in the similar price range on the BG site.

Any advice is greatly appreciated, it's easy to feel in way over your head for a newbie diamond buyer. :)

I really like that BG setting too, thanks for the link.

The WF stone with WF setting works out to be the same price as the BG stone with BG setting:

Does it make sense to opt for getting both stone and setting from the same source?

How to choose???

Definitely preferred - avoids all sorts of liability issues, insurance hassles to insure for shipping & setting, the extra time and expense of shipping..

Both stones look nice.

Ditto Yssie. And for what it's worth, I prefer the facet patterning and the ASET on the BGD stone (despite the fact that the WF stone is a hair bigger).

I hope that was you who bought it, since it is showing sold now.

I just want to say your "lucky" I had that diamond reserved last week actually, but ended up going with a GOG diamond. Both were excellent choices though! Enjoy as it is a beautiful diamond!

Yup, I snatched it up yesterday. :)

Can't wait to see the finished product.

Thanks to all for the advice, I'll be sure to post some pics or the ring.
