Hi Everyone-

First off-you are all so helpful!

My boyfriend and I went engagement ring shopping today in Atlanta, Ga (He lives in Atlanta right now and I''m in Arizona for right now..I will be moving to Atlanta). I have fallen in love with the Michael B 2 row Flat band engagement ring and wedding band. We are being gifted with a 1.85 round diamond that is a family stone (It is currently in a 3 stone setting) to set in this setting.

I need advice regarding appraisal and insurance. I want to confirm that I have all of this correctly and need a reccomendation on an appraiser in Arizona and a company to insure the diamond with.
Currently the diamond is set in a 3 stone set. I will only be unsetting the 1.85 center diamond.

1) Have the 3 stone ring appraised in Arizona-I need a good appraiser
2)Insure the 3 stone ring
3)Give the 3 stone ring to my boyfriend
4)The Jeweler in Atlanta ships the 3 stone ring to Michael B in California
5)Michael B unsets the diamond and creates new setting with family diamond
6)Michael B ships new ering set with old diamond plus the remaining now "2 stone" setting back to Atlanta.
7) My boyfriend picks it up and pays :)
8) We stop insurance on the now "2 stone" setting and insure the new setting with the 1.85 family stone.

Do I have all of this right? It seems so complicated and I know that we want this to be as trouble free as possible.

Any and all help is so greatly appreciated!

MissSL,

That is probably how I''d do it. Congrats on the Michael b. i love his settings

Thanks Mrs Salvo! No one else has responded hmmm...

Someone else wrote a similar thread-about insurance/loose stone and Michael B.
I''m not sure if I should use Jeweler''s Mutual or Chubb I see both written about on her.
Also not sure who to use for an appraiser in Phoenix/Scottsdale, Az

I had SO much fun trying on rings-WOW-at one point I began to tear up with my boyfriend because it was so emotional/fun/exciting/overwhelming.
I keep looking at pictures and still can''t believe this engagement and our relationship which is amazing is real!

Thanks!

missed a step... you will need to have the new ring with the old stone appraised and doccumented before you can insure it, otherwise you're golden! Oh - try to find an independant appraiser who can plot stones - its a virtual fingerprint so you know your stones are never switched.
