Hi everyone, I'm writing this from my phone so I can include the pictures I took, but please advise as to what you think! I will link to the post with the specs/IS/ASET/professional pictures shortly. My main concern is the two dark spots on the edge of the diamond - they didn't show up on the professional photo but I'm seeing them from almost every angle when I try to take a pic. Of course, I'm the first to admit I am no professional and I'm taking the photos with a phone cam.

All advice appreciated!

I do really like how the diamond looks (and gives off rainbow sparkles), but those black spots when photographed bother me. I guess what I'm asking is.. are the black spots on the edge because of my photography, or are they really there? Why aren't they showing up in the professional photo? Thanks!

Diamonds specs:
Table: 55%
Depth: 62.3%
Crown angle: 36
Pav angle: 40.6

Did GIA or AGL grade this diamond? What is the Clarity grade? Does the grading report include an inclusion plot?

I think the stone looks fine. There's nothing wrong with it other than a *bit* of leakage under the table. Really, for a stone that size it looks pretty good. Taking pictures of a stone is pretty difficult and the first picture you posted with the "dark spots" isn't even in focus. It's very blury.

I think I see the 2 dark spots you are talking about....turn the ring 180 degrees, still there?...obstruction maybe?

Picture/Idealscope/ASET look good...what is the clarity grade?

Whoops, sorry about that! It is a GIA rated J, SI1. I've attached the cert.

think its the angle pretty stone enjoy

I think it’s beautiful! I never get any decent pics of rings with my phone. The diamonds always reflect my leopard print case and look brown and dark. I need to get a white case. LOL The dark spots in your pictures look like reflections to me.

Thank you!! Can anyone else comment? I unfortunately have to have the stone back by Thursday.

The two dark spots you are worried about in your pics - can you see them with just your eyes or only if you are looking at one of your enlarged pics?

On the GIA report, the first inclusion(s) listed are crystals, and several are noted on the inclusion plot - it is possible you are seeing these crystals in your enlarged pics, or the spots could be artifacts of photography -- if you have a loupe, perhaps loupe your diamond and see if you find crystals which line up with the dark spots you are concerned about? Maybe borrow someone else's camera and see if the spots still show up? If they are not visible with your eyes, don't worry about them?
