Hi PS folks,

I have decided on a princess cut diamond ring for my engagement but I do not see enough information from the Knowledge tab or from the internet helping me to choose which one.

I am mostly going about the search using the Princess guide from Truth about diamonds website and have narrowed it down to the three below but can't decide on which. Any advice is welcome. Thanks.

Good cut is what makes a diamond perform beautifully, not good color or clarity.

GIA does not grade the cut of princesses.
AGS does, so I'd look for one graded by AGS that got their top cut grade of AGS 0.

Or, I'd buy a branded princess like Solasfera or Whiteflash ACA.

It is pretty much impossible to properly evaluate a princess cut on paper, an ASET or Ideal Scope image give you some useful information about the light performance to make your decision upon. That being said the advice offered to go with AGS or a branded cut is solid.

In absence of the above JA has a good return policy so it will only cost the shipping for you to see them in person, from the three you linked the third will be visually smaller than the other 2, and the 1.51 will face up the largest.

Thanks for the advice guys.
I am really trying to stay under 10K for budget and all I see from WF is below around 1.5carat. I would like to stay H and up but below is I. I am wondering if I put set it in a more "basket" setting like the ring in 2nd link, if the yellowish color will be less noticeable. Is the diamond OK? Appears to have a good ASET image for a princess.

It is an AGS 000 so it is definitely no slouch! The presence of color @ I can vary and setting it in platinum or white gold may pronounce it depending on the under tones. If you are looking for something that is going to appear very white this may not be the stone for you. Being a princess and an I color I would certainly ask WF for their opinion on whether it shows color and if it is a good or a poor I.

JulieN,

Can you tell me how the 4 options from B2CJEWELS are better than 3 from JA that I provided? As far as I can tell B2CJEWELS diamonds are also GIA certified. Is it because they provide ASET images? If I got ASET images from JA, would that help?

Thediamondshopper,

Which setting makes the diamond whiter? White gold or platinum. Sorry if this is a newbie question.

Thank you both for your help.

the first two are very flat, no crown height. the only one I would consider for an ASET is the third one, you should pick two others. Look at the pictures/video of the True Hearts AGS 0 princesses on JA, and contrast them with #2, and you should be able to see the difference and know what you're looking for.
