What do you think about turning it into a five stone ring with tapered baguettes on either side? Any other ideas? And how would I go about doing it? I am in australia but ordered it from a US vendor...would a new jeweller help me?

Love tapered settings so that will always get my vote.

In terms of finding a jeweler to make a 5-stone ring for you, well anyone of them can... You wouldn't have to stick with the vendor where you got your ring from originally. However, from my own experience and from reading PS, getting side stones in a certain shape and size is the tricky part. Many brick and mortar stores often don't have side stones on hand for you to look at and compare. The last time I inquired about a 5-stone ring, the jeweler needed me to pay for the stones beforehand, because if I ended up not wanting them, he'd have to keep them and absorb the cost. That's probably why most folks here go to WF, BG, or any of the larger companies that have more diamonds on hand, who can also help with figuring out what proportions you like.

Hi, I’m in Sydney and Jarrett Jewellers at Town Hall did my engagement ring reset. But it was hugely expensive (as it is here in Aust with higher rents, higher wages, insurance etc etc). They got me in two tapered baguettes .35 each I think which are flush set. I gave them my parameters and they called in various sizes to suit from which I chose these two. Unfortunately you can’t just “add” extra diamonds to your ring setting, it’s a full remake which is “ouch”.

My vote goes to adding bullets.
You could contact Alistair Kelsey in Australia to ask if he can do this for you. I’m adraid it would be a complete remake though

It will be expensive to make a new setting and add the two diamonds. I like the idea but I am a traditionalist and I like 3 stone rings for ER. I think your ring is fab now. I would put the money in an anniversary ring or a wedding band. But if it is bugging you...it will always bug you... so do it.
