Adding Engraving To A Setting Question/Feedback

I'm still a new comer the pricescope forum but this fourm has been very helpful to say the least. In any event, I've finally selected the antique cushion and would like some feedback on the setting I've chosen. In particular, adding engraving to the setting I've chosen. I've attached a link to the setting I'm getting from ERD below and would like to add an engraving pattern (link to similar pattern also below) for my future fiance's to be somewhat unique. First off, any thoughts on adding an engraving pattern to this setting and is it normal practice for jewlers to automatically add whatever selected pattern to both sides of the setting if that makes sense (top and bottom of ring). I think it would be normal practice and that's exactly what I think I would prefer. Thanks in advance for the feedback.

I don't understand all of your questions. But yes, you can ask for hand engraving on any setting. Call ERD to ask the remainder of the questions, they would be best to advise you.

I love engraving but not on the ring you are considering. That is a repro of the Tiffany Novo, and it is a sleek contemporary design. Engraving is nice on rings that are more antique style with milgrain, in my opinion.

Apologies, as I don't think I described what I was referring to very well. Essentially think of the setting sitting right-side up on a table. You obviously would see the hand engraving when the setting is sitting right-side up. My question is solely referring to whether its normal practice/ideal for the jeweler to also engrave the bottom-side of the setting. Bottom-side meaning the setting is now sitting bottom-side up on a table (should I expect/want that side to also be engraved). I would think this would be normal practice but wasn't sure.

Gypsy, forgot to add any thoughts on adding engraving to that particular as you definitely seem to be popular in the PS forums ;) .

Appreciate the feedback, I'm hoping a few more folks will chime to share their thoughts. I still don't think the setting would be ruined but I'm still on the fence.

Any thoughts from anyone else?

Again, talk to the jeweler about this. I am sure they can engrave it wherever you want.
