In conjuction with the diamond glossary found here: http://diamonds.pricescope.com/glossary.asp

I have compiled a list from the threads about abbreviations that are commonly used on the forums.

The list consists of both diamond and non diamond related terms that are most frequently used on the boards. If there is something that you feel should be added to the list, please contact admin (or use
msg.admin.button.gif
button) and the appropriate additions will be posted.
Many thanks to everyone who posted in the previous threads. Your contributions are what made this list possible!

Great list Miss Belle! We needed a list such as this, as it seems newbies are often asking about our abbreviations, so this will be useful to post for them.

DWT = pennyweight

Someone helpfully pointed out that, when looking at Stuller pieces, multiple the DWT (pennyweight) by 100 for an approximation of price. Super helpful seeing as Stuller doesn't post prices to the general public.

This is definitely something to save for reference, thank you. There are times when I'll see an abbreviation and have no clue what I'm reading.

There are 100 points in a carat.
So a 1/2 carat diamond is 50 points or .50
1/4 carat is 25 points or .25
Smaller stones are .10, .05, etc. and some teeny accent stones are just one point.
