About to buy diamond?

I think if you are spending that amount of money you should first of all not be relying on a sample image. You need to see photos/videos, ASET, etc and you probably want ideal proportions and these are not.
At that budget I'd be looking at WF ACA or CBI if you want a round sparkling stone with fire. What draws you to the stone you linked?

Lookinagain - thanks for the feedback. I would like to prioritize the brilliance / fire above all else and then use remaining budget to get a weight that is near or close to the 2.5 carat weight. I ran this one through the HCA and it came back with a good score and therefore requested seller to provide pictures. Also, what are "ideal" proportions so I can be better at narrowing down my search?

Tyty333 - what is a 60/60 diamond? what should i look for spec wise to get a good balance between white/fire.

Thx all!

Here is the cheat sheet we usually go by on PS. Usually cant go wrong if you stick with these numbers but GIA uses rounding so...always good if you can
get an Idealscope image.

Depth 60-62.3 %
Table 54-58%
Pavilion 40.6-41 degrees
Crown 34-35 degrees (sometimes up to 35.5ish with idealscope image)

34 crown pairs better with 41 pav and 35 crown pairs better with 40.6.

60/60 usually refers to a stone with 60 table/60 depth and a lower crown.

Ask if you can get an idealscope of your stone.

tyty333 - thanks! will keep those proportions in mind.

They got back to me by e-mail saying the diamond cutter doesn't have an idealscope. Not going to pursue it further.

Would you recommend going to diamond dealers in person over internet shopping for a one-time buyer like myself? Thx.

No.

Purchasing online is generally the best way to maximize your bang for buck. And you have a helluva lot of folks who have no skin in the game commission wise here on Pricescopers helping you to find the best stone for you.

Going to a dealer in-person when you don’t have a lot of knowledge about these little expensive gems can see you get pressured by the salesperson to close a deal on a sub-par stone.
