A suspicious/fake GIA inscription?

Hey guys, a dealer in Turkey selling diamonds with oddly affordable prices. For example a 0.45 D VS2 (GIA number: 2257035491) diamond was sold for $1045 with the ring. But in the microscopic view of this stone, its GIA inscription font especially the letter "A" seemed different to me (lower parts of A specifically). I am adding that view and the original inscription pic retrieved from GIA website. Also, although it is certified on 25th of February, 2017, its black carbon print on inscription looks like evanished. Maybe it has never been carbon printed, is it possible for a genuine GIA stone? Can you say that there is no problem with the font? Thank you for your answers in advance!

The font used on the "A" is incorrect. I would be extremely suspicious. The lack of blackness inside the engraving is meaningless.

As Dave Atlas states the lack of blackness is not an issue. The black is residue from the laser burning. Standard ultrasonic and/or steam cleaning will remove the black leaving only the base relief inscription (which is much harder to read by the way!).

It is likely that the difference you are seeing in the font style is also related to the black removal. So I think it probably is not a fake, but contacting the lab is a good idea and having an expert verify the stone matches all aspects of the certificate is always a good idea. Especially if you have reason to suspect the integrity or expertise of the seller.

But if it is any help, 11883024 is actually a higher quality diamond - VVS2 instead of VS2, and it is a 1 CT instead of a 0.47. It is also dated back to 2002. https://www.gia.edu/report-check?reportno=11883024

The OP stone is GIA # 2257035491, and it does match the GIA data base.
