A stone for an old setting

I have an 18ct yellow gold setting currently holding a 2ct princess cut cz

I would love to replace it with something. I am no longer a fan of the princess style but don’t want to spend a fortune on a new setting would love a jewellery to be able to pop the cz out and put something in.

Not sure which stones look great with yellow gold I was thinking a tourmaline but perhaps the lovely PS community can advise? Will look at the list of vendors too for inspiration.

I second @Niel 's request.

Do you have any idea of the mm measurements?

Thanks @Niel and @elle_71125 it seems to be 6mm square hard to get exactly in the setting

That appears to be a peg head, so if you weren’t super hot on the princess shape, you could probably get any stone you like (calibrated sizes...) and have the jeweler swap out the head while setting the stone.

If you want, you can go to the Stuller website and search for peg head to see some options. I had an antique ring with prongs that were shot, and the jeweler was able to cut the old head out and weld a new head in. It matched really well and he told me it was well worth the savings to repurpose the ring.

Thank you so much @ringo865 and @MissyBeaucoup that is great as I would like to change up to an emerald or radiant cut.

Now to search vendors for a stone

I would really like an Aquamarine or a Tanzanite (although budget may not stretch to tanzanite).

Is it best to search through the vendors or are there ones more well known for these stones?

Start a new thread in the colored gemstones forum of pricescope. They really know colored stones and can recommend some vendors for you. I’m excited to see what you do!

Haha you’re on colored stones, but put the title as “looking for vendors for aqua or tanzanite” ;-)
