I’m sorry to bring this up again, but I’m still working on the whole “what bra do I wear under my dress” issue.

Based on everyone’s helpful advice, I had decided to go the adhesive bra route, because other styles of bras might show through the lace back of my dress. I bought the bra below from VS and some U-shaped lifts as well.

I tried the bra for the first time tonight, just intending to wear it around the house for a few hours to see if I like it. The instructions said to apply the adhesive to clean, dry skin, which I did. However, after only about 45 minutes, it became VERY uncomfortable. It was difficult to remove and left an ugly rash. (It adheres on the sides under the armpits.

I’ve never considered myself to have sensitive skin. Then again, I’ve never tried an adhesive bra either.

I searched and found a couple of threads that recommended a product called the NuBra, but a bit of web-searching indicates that it isn’t recommended for sensitive skin either.

The bra I tried is below. Suggestions?

Maybe a backless body shaper? You won''t need any adhesive so no rash, plus it will slim anything "unwanted" for the big day. I plan on using something similar myself.

Where did you get yours? How low is the back? (that''s a big issue for me)

Do you have a picture of you in your actual dress so we can see exactly how low it is? I''m thinking convertible bra but I''d have to see you in the dress (not just the model in the dress).

You might have and allergy to the adhesive. My daughter gets a rash whenever she uses a bandaid. Have you tried a longline strapless?

I came across this one. Might not work but it is interesting.

clear back bra

Strange question but did the adhesive have latex in it?

I''ve never tried these bras but I know (from my work in a costume shop and with stage make-up) that some adhesives use latex. If the adhesive was white or off white before it dried I would bet it has latex in it. Lots of people are allergic to latex. Maybe you just need to try a different adhesive. Not sure how it would work with a bra but a non-latex alternative is called Spirit Gum and a small bottle is under 5$ I''d buy some and try it on your wrist or something to see if you have the same reaction. HTH

I don''t have a picture that''s convenient to post (I''m on lunch break), but the lace in the back comes down to about my natural waistline (similar to the model). The open V in the back goes to just below a normal bra line.

I don''t believe that the adhesive had latex in it, but I''m not completely sure.

I don''t think a halter bra would look right with a non-halter dress, even if the back and straps are clear. You can usually see the reflection off the straps. Can that bra be worn in a regular (non-halter) style?

From that description I''d say a long line bra might work but it''d be close.

Check the tube when you get home if it''s non-latex you can try the latex type if it is try the other. The Latex type is used for fake eyelashes too. It is not clear right out of the tube. The other kind would be more liquidy and more clear. If that makes any sense.

Have you gone to a nice undergarment store and explained what you''re looking for? Sometimes they don''t have specialty ones on the shelf or can order one.

I actually have been to a specialty bra shop and spent about $110 to special-order a bustier, which is what they recommended, but the back wasn''t low enough and it showed through the lace part of the dress. Even though the bra was "nude" colored, it was still somewhat visible through the lace, especially close up. I was on the fence for a while about whether I felt comfortable about that situation, but I finally decided to return the bustier.

What''s the difference between a bustier and a long line bra?

I went bra less. My dress was a silk fabric that no cups could be sewn into and a long line bra would have shown through. I tried the Nu Bra but it just didn''t work for me. I couldn''t stretch and move how I wanted to or thought I might - remember to lift up your arm as thought you have a hand on your DH''s shoulder for dancing, feeding him the cake, or throwing your flowers.

I didn''t go through all the old posts, but are sewn in cups not an option for you? If not, how comfortable are you going without all together?

I had cups pinned in, but it was pretty obvious they weren''t going to provise much support, and my seamstress advised against them.

I''m 32DD, which seems larger than it actually is, but I still need something in terms of support.

Not sure if this will work with your dress, but i bookmarked it in my wedding folder ideas. New backless bra by maindenform: http://www.maidenform.com/catalog/product.jsp?productId=71471
I saw something about that bra on TV a while back. I think the concept is that it''s basicallly a normal bra that''s unhooked with the back parts folded under the sides, so all the support is from the straps. Unfortunately I don''t think it would work for me unless the shoulder straps were clear, and it doesn''t look like they are.

I would avoid clear shoulder straps they stretch and you will have no support as the night wears on, I did this once never ever again they are annoying.

That''s a good point, and I''d guess that''s why that Maidenform backless bra doesn''t offer the clear plastic straps as an option. Because all the weight is on the shoulders, they would stretch.

I haven''t forgotten about this! I''m having some camera/computer issues right now, but I believe my mom might have some pictures. It might be a few days.

Do you have to wear a bra? I''ve worn those "Breast Petal" things before that are tan colored band-aid type things shaped like flowers. They just go over your nipples so it''s not obvious you''re not wearing a bra. I wore those and used double sided tape when I wore a halter dress with a low back and a low front. I wear a 32 A, though, so it''s not a problem for me to go braless.

The way you describe your dress, it doesn''t sound like it''s going to be possible to find anything that''s not adhesive. I know you can also get these stick on bra cup things, but I don''t know how effective they are. What did the shop where you bought the dress recommend?

Also, I definitely wouldn''t wear a bra with clear plastic straps that show. It will be totally obvious because they look super shiny in real life. It''s NOT a good look at all-yikes.

P.S. If you do a search on Victoria''s Secret for adhesive bras, the nipple covers and adhesive cups show up.
