I finally have the first pictures of a spessartite from Gene that I received a few days ago. It is from Nigeria, 3,05 carats and 8,29x8,82x5,71 mm. The size is just perfect. It''s my first stone from PrecisionGem, and I''m pleased.

The pictures are taken at sunset time, in different rooms.

The stone is nice close up, but at arm''s length it just glows and the color really pops. So I''m seriously considering a pendant to go with my lotus spessartite (not necessarily in a lotus pendant setting, though.)

Oh...I have been waiting for this show...YEAH!

I love how deep the orange color is. More pictures?

I''m noticing garnets always take some time to fall in love with for me (spinels and sapphires are usually instant love.) But this baby has wonderful color in person, it''s shimmery orange. The brown comes up when you look at it close range, but only in certain lights.

Another one up side down.

Thanks Mochi

I''ve been feeling so guilty not taking pics even though I''ve had it for a few days. Bad Pricescoper

Another one...

This is my favorite picture.

Honestly, like with the spess in my lotus ring, the color isn''t perfect in every way. But the cut definitely is. I love how the triangles just make up almost the whole cut. When the shimmering action starts (I read a concept called ''roiling effect'', I imagine that what''s it is) I''m just blown away!

Love that color - so pretty!! What a lovely way to start a new year

Last one for now, flower shots, glamour shots and hand shots to come. Hmmm, maybe a neckshot if my assistant (hubby) cooperates?

Very pretty spess!

MT,
Great stone. You can definitely see it''s orange!! I can''t wait to see what you are going to do with it, as you have such great taste in jewelry design. I know you live in a place where the sun doesn''t shine much, but if you can get some sunshine pics, that would be awesome!!

Thanks IndyLady!

Thanks TL! Yes, definitely orange!!! And when the distance from the stone is right, it''s quite a stunning orange. I''ll have to try to get that on camera

TL, we had a tiny bit of sun today, so if tomorrow is good I''ll definitely try

Well, at least you know you have your own piece of sunshine regardless of the sky!!

LOL!! If I lived so north, I''d probably own 20 spessartites!!

Really lovely stone. Thank you again for the pictures, I was really looking forward to them!!

Ooooo now that''s going to be a challenge to set! What are your thoughts (or is it too early)?

A very unique stone, but I guess that''s normal to expect from you

Color is very nice, but won''t that cut require a custom setting (not that there''s anything wrong with custom settings

)? I''m sure you''ll turn it into something great.

TL, I love garnets in this winter since they really light up the day! That''s a good point. Maybe I should get some more

I''ll load up some more pics in a moment, that show off the stone better. I think he definitely deserves it, he''s such a hunk.

I know, I''m drawing a blank! What I do know is probably a pendant with the tip up, in a two tone (silver and YG setting) I think I will send it to Sally or Julia and see what they come up with.

You know, where I live, there are only custom settings, no ready mades in any stores, which sometimes is a real bummer. So this stone doesn''t change my usual situation. I''m still gathering up courage to order a LOGR and trying to find someone who will agree to set it!

OKAY, then for some more pictures, since the first ones just didn''t do this lovely any justice...
