A Ring to ask why ?

I stumbled across this piece. I had to quell my fast beating heart as it was handed to me from the showcase.
Wow, a beautifully hand made and unusual design ring. Two tone gold, an ever so fine white gold bezel set around the centre princess cut stone seamlessly merging into the yellow gold.
Two perfectly set princess cut stones into the side of the basket.
The whole design and manufacture is flawless and perfect.
How much you ask?
Um, $80.
The stones are cubic zirconia.
But why?
Who designs and executes this fastidiously and beautifully crafted ring and uses darn CZ in it!
Of course it came home with me.
