Since when has WF had this policy about selling their settings to people who purchase diamonds from them? I don''t like it. Not one bit. I''ve personally had my eye on that harmony setting for a sapphire for a while now.

I''m not sure how the "can only be purchased with a diamond" notation interacts with their stated policy in the FAQs. This says that WF will set a diamond purchased elsewhere which is sent into them, except for the simple 4- or 6-prong settings (which have to be sold with WF diamonds). I tend to think that means that they will not sell their settings empty, and will set outside stones into settings other than the basic 4 or 6 prongers.

Another option, .83 H VS2, for $3588 bank wire. GOG''s website has not allowed me to search for settings for like a week now (some sort of coding error on the website, it looks like), but you could call and see what they have for settings, this leaves you about $1400 to find something at GOG.

Need to keep looking. No need for a rush though, so maybe that''s a good thing.

Yeah, if one of us recommends a rock, the lurkers will swoop in frequently and snatch it, that''s why we recommend placing them on hold when one catches your eye.

Given that the .90 is gone... I''d go for the GOG H (if eyeclean) and have it sent to WF to set into the Harmony in WG, that should work with your budget. WF will set other''s stones in that setting... you just have to send it to them for setting (which is my preference anyway).

Is GOG as good as WF? I have a contact at WF - is there one for GOG on here? Any discounts?

GOG is great and very reputable, they seem very helpful. They have the full arsenal of tools and reports to evaluate your diamond, have it in-house to look at it, etc. They give a Pricescope discount. They have a range of designer settings, I just can''t currently browse any of them because their website is being funky. When I''ve had questions, they''ve responded very quickly (even though I''m mostly window-shopping at this point). Go to their website (www.goodoldgold.com) and find contact information, then go from there. I''m sure someone can help you over the phone or by email, though.

GOG is wonderful. As is WF. As for settings... WF does in house designs, GOG has designer lines they carry. Which one is better? It despends on what you are looking for. They are both great vendors.

Your concern about your girlfriend being ashamed in admitting the stats of her stone if they aren''t DEF VS2....don''t tell her. Then she can honestly say, "I don''t know the stats...all I know is it is the sparkliest diamond I''ve ever seen...." The excellent cut of a WF or GOG stone will look so much better even at the lower color/clarity grades than the majority of DEF higher clarity stones your girlfriend will encounter. I would bet money that if she holds her hand next to a friend with a DEF average cut stone hers will out sparkle the friends AND look whiter.

Oh yeah, make sure she keeps it clean. You might want to investigate an ultrasonic cleaner to go along with it.

Brilyant--You have some incredible options on here, so I have nothing to add but I just wanted to say good luck!

As for your gf being embarrassed about telling people the stats of her diamond--anyone who has the nerve to ask her about the stats of her diamond (other than a PSer, of course!) should be embarrassed about their lack of decorum! I''ve only had my G SI1 cushion for three months now, and people have asked me many questions about it, but I''ve NEVER been asked about the clarity or color.
