so ...
i have the bead board out
and
just playing around with leftovers
pearls (and larimar)

kind of love the look of a silver (and gold) spacer bead between the pearls
how easy is this going to be to clean and keep tarnish free ?

do you think this method is safe ?
it says it isi safe for pearls and gemstones
anyone tried it or something similar ?
i dont like the look of tarnish one little bit

I would not clean pearls with that method.
In my experience, it's best not to put silver spacers between pearls. The spacers will tarnish and the tarnish ill blacken the pearls near the drill holes.

regarding knotting
what is the smallest size that needs knots between each pearl/ bead ?

I would knot between pearls that are 4-5mm and larger.

If you want to protect the pearls and grive the necklace some flexibility but not knot, you can use tiny silicone spacers, like these by Beadalon. Beadalon calls them "bead bumpers". You string them on just like a bead.
link to google search: beadalon silicone bead bumpers

You can get a similar product from the US company Fire Mountain Gems but I have only ever used the Beadalon brand.
