A pirate ring?

Hello,
just few days ago I bought this ring. It was dirty as hell but after some cleaning suddenly something strange showed up. Could it be a pirat ring? Any period? I have no idea... seems to be quite old.....

An interesting find!
Was it dug up by a metal detector? The material looks like coppery plated brass with some plating rubbed off.
It looks like a very small size. That, and the fact that it says "Pirate" on it might indicate that it is a mid-century child's play ring.
This is just my opinion.
