Well, in my ongoing saga to find the OEC of my dreams, I felt like I needed to see some AVRs in person. It has become apparent that I need to really beautiful cut OEC, 3 plus carats or so, lower in color, to make me happy. I felt like for my education
seeing what a "perfectly" cut OEC would look like could help me. I could compare how the OECs I have had the last few weeks compare performance-wise and I could decide if I would go the new cut route rather than the old cut route.
The only ones available right now are 2 carats or less so I ordered the 2.10, M, SI1 and in order to see the color I also ordered a 1.64 N, SI1
I was also interested to see a stone that graduates to a brown tone (2.10 M SI1) since a lot of people seem to prefer that. The 1.64 graduates to yellow.
When I look at the 2.1, I swear I have a hard time seeing brown. I really see a steely color...more gray. It is pretty, but the one that graduates to yellow is brighter IRL. In fact, to me it looks higher in color than the M.

Anyway, here are some pics...I really wish I still had 3.33 M to compare them too for fun. I will say the AVRs are constantly throwing off colors...even light play across (of course you would expect that)...very fiery! The OECs had that unmistakable charm though. I am not really one for quirky in diamonds, but charm is another thing!

This was my attempt to get a picture of the color graduation...left is the brown, right is the yellow

And for fun, I took a picture of 2.1 on the same gold leaf as 3.33 M. The first one is the AVR...second is the OEC. The AVR pattern is CRISP. OEC is adorable...like, hey, I'm old, but I still got it!!!
