Hello!
Shrinking is here!
I''m back in the market for a bigger diamond (at the moment I have a 1.2 G-VS2).
I found this diamond:
http://www.exceldiamonds.com/Loose_Round_Diamond-143/Loose_Round_1.77_Carat_M_Color_SI1_Clarity_diamond-396474.html
Judah at Exceldiamonds thinks it is very nice and eye clean.
I hope it will be clean enough to my eye too.
I''m in love with the picture.
What so you guys/gals think of it?
I know about the 20% size difference, so I think the size difference will please me.

I vote Yes! ALways happy to enable! The size difference is substantial...can you handle the color difference? Can you possibly find a lower
color well cut stone anywhere to view? It looks quite lovely in the picture

.

You are used to what a G looks like.
If you have seen lots of Ms compared to Gs in person, and are okay with that color difference then go for it.

If you have only seen pics of Ms, or Ms not next to Gs, I'd be sure to see Ms next to Gs in person first.

If you are still okay with it then go for it.

I love lower colors!
I had some low colored diamonds before.
I miss some color in my 1.20 G-VS2.

There is a 2.04 O-VS2 listed on pricescope, and it is very cheap.
I asked the vendor (usacerted) for more information but didn''t receive any.
They didn''t reply my email.

I can''t say no to an upgrade

It isn''t an upgrade, the 1.2 G-VS2 is from James Allen.

Go for it!!

I'm starting to

Ms, Ns, Os - in bigger sizes there's even more to admire

A lot of people did answer ''No!!!''.
Because of the cut, the clarity or the color?

I probably would not, due to the color. I love lower colors in antique cuts, but not so much in a modern brilliant. M will be quite noticeable. My pear is an L with strong blue and I can still see the color under flourescent office lighting.

aha....well then! the more the merrier

and I am

with warm colors

Voted No for the color drop. Diamonds are unique for their brilliance, dispersion, and they are white in color. If you''re willing to drop that low in color, there are other stones available (moissanite) with better brilliance and dispersion to that of a diamond and much cheaper. Just my two cents.

I said no for the color, BUT I didn''t know you would keep you G and also that you love warmer colors!

so I change my vote to YES.

I''m not certain I keep the H if I buy this one.
I have to see how they compare.

One of my concerns for this diamond are the inclusions: they seem so near the surface of the table. I''m afraid I could see them with my naked eye. But of course it is only a picture.
Some expert opinions?

Stephan,

You''re as crazeeeee as I am!!!

I say if you want it and you can afford it, why not???!! Nothing ventured, nothing gained, Grandma used to say!!! If you don''t love it, send it back!

I''ve been drooling over this one for a while now, but I can''t afford it at this point in time. Maybe another pricescoper would love it *wink wink*

I love the lower colors in the modern cut too

Yep, also been drooling over the O IF

As for the M, I wonder how easy it would be to see the flaw (the main photo between 1 and 2 o'clock). What setting are you putting it in?

ETA: give the O IF a good home and a killer setting
9.gif

Do you need to buy from JA? Why not get the GOG stone that you love? It is the same price.

Isabella, the setting will be very simple, as my actual ring: 4 prongs and a tiny ring, but it depends on which vendor I will buy from.

Dreamer,
The original M-SI1 I was looking at is available for $5,385.
The GOG diamond I love is $423 more than the L-VVS and almost 2,500 more than the 1.77 M.
But I still consider the 1.74-IF, if Excel''s diamond doesn''t please me.
If that''s the case, I''ll ask Jonathan why the polish of the O-IF is ''only'' VG. OK, I''m anal retentive here.

haha... yes you are

Yes Dreamer, it''s funny, diamonds are 1) beautiful, and they are 2) money too.

1) Beauty
A lot of VS2-SI1 diamonds are eye clean. When you look at them with a loupe, you think: ''How didn''t I see this inclusion(s) without the loupe?''. After that, even without loupe, you''ll manage to find the inclusion of the eye clean diamond. That''s why I prefer higher clarity.

I love lower colored diamonds because of their warmth.

2) Money
I think that L-VVS EX-EX-EX is a better deal than O-IF EX-EX-VG.

Wait and let see...

Yes, it is higher color and almost as high clarity. So it is probably a better deal.

Thank you Joe, I''m really thinking about this option.

I agree. Personally, I don''t mind colors down to even K in RB, but a M would be too tinted for my taste in a modern RB although I''d LOVE it in an antique stone.
