i finally come out of hiding after many years. i even lurked back in the diamondtalk days! anyhoo, this is my baby:

princess cut
EGL USA
.85 carat
5.42 x 5.17 mm
SI1
I color
71.8% depth
74% table
size 6.5
14 k white gold

i bought it at a pawn shop in detroit a few x-mas's back. this is not my orig ering. my orig is actually a bezel-set .99 carat round sapphire. i'll post pics later when i find the time. i wear it on my right hand.

the wedding band went with the orig sapphire ering. the band is from birks, is curvy/swoopy, and is 18 k white gold.

i'll attempt to attach more pics here. i've got a god-awful one with my elephant, wrinkly hands in one. i'm only 39!

p.s. the wedding band consists of alternating 1 point diamonds and sapphires.

I love it! Gorgeous!

while this little number is an SI1, i gotta tell you... it''s virtually impossible for me to see any inclusions at all. i''ve had it resized once and had the prongs tightened another time and the customer rep had to plot it under a microscope to ensure diamond switching doesn''t happen and both times they assumed is was of VS clarity. the cert is EGL USA and this grading seems to be seriously strict. the color looks no lower than a GIA I. i''ve done some comparisons in jewellery stores, looking at GIA I''s.

the setting is nothing really special. don''t get me wrong, i LOVE it, but it''s your standard, run-of the mill 4 mm wide cathedral.

thanks so much for letting me share. this is the last one. i''ve thoroughly enjoyed seeing everyone here''s rings over the years!

Very pretty!!! The band gives the set a very unique look.

Very nice!

Beautiful set!

Lovely!!!!!!!!!!

Lovely set!!!

What a lovely set! Are you from the Detroit area too? We have a number of Michiganders around here.... (Michiganians?)

good question, tuckins! i''m actually orig from windsor but now live in vancouver, bc. i did, however, spend a lot of time in detroit. i went to the u of d mercy and commuted across the border daily. mind you that was WAY back in ''96.

i got the diamond from zeidmann''s in detroit on gratiot. it''s the state''s largest pawn broker of jewellery and good god!... they''ve got a ton of stuff. they''ve also got a good trade-in policy: they''ll give you back 90% of what you spent on your jewellery toward a new purchase, which is what i did. i originally bought a pretty badly included emerald cut from them which i wore until i couldn''t stand it anymore. went back with my receipt a year or 2 later and they credited me most of it to this upgrade. they also have a diamond setter right on sight who will reset your diamond into ANY setting in the store (they''ve got hundreds!) in an HOUR!

anyhoo, thanks for the positive comments from everybody!

It looks great! I''d love to see the sapphire ring too. And is the eb curvy all the way around? I thught in the first picture it was curved only in one place, as bands sometimes are t oallow flush fit around the e-rings head, but yoursd looks like it waves all around?

And I am also a west-coaster! Lived in Ontario for 8 years of graduate school then we moved back here when I got a job.

lovely set... congrats on your engagement...

thanks again everyone for the kind words.

dreamer-d... to answer your question... yes, the curves on the band go all the way around. it''s one of the few that i''ve seen like that. so depending how the ring shifts, the wave is in constant flux. i bought it initially to accomodate my org bezel-set ering that wouldn''t allow a band to sit flush with it. the bezel fit in nicely with the inward (outward?) curve to make the 2 rings sit against each other. do you live in vancouver, too? do i know you?!! wouldn''t that be funny?!

Your ering is lovely - and I absolutely adore your wedding ring! That band is wicked cool!

I love your wedding band!

Lovely set

Very pretty! I like a thicker band with a princess cut. Really seems to show case the stone!
