So, Weston and I got married last March, and decided to build a house in September last year. We''ve been in since Christmas, but it''s only now gotten to a place where I find it somewhat "done".

It''s a patio home, so the back/side yard is quite small, but adequate for our needs. It''s a 2,225 sq. ft. 3 bedroom, 2.5 bath, with an office and a media room, 2.5 car garage in the rear.

Here is is MySpace angled . . .

Thank you, Mercoledi!

If you have any design tips, I''d love to hear them. I''m getting to the point where I''m out of ideas that don''t cost a fortune (ie. plantation shutters).

Thank you, Snlee! We plan on being here for a while, so hopefully we don't grow out of it too soon.

Here's another pic of it from across the street - we're still waiting on a buyer for the house next door. This was taken before our permanent fence went up between the houses.

How nice to have a house! Congratulations!

It''s beautiful, Lauren! I love the cabinets and you have a great sense of style! All the little touches (flowers, vases, etc.) are just perfect.

hi lauren! Your house is beautiful!!! I love how you have it decorated, particularly your living room. I really like the dark woods that you've used. Your kitties are cute too :)

We just built a house as well and we moved in the beginning of May. it is nowhere near "done" so I feel a little better that it took you a while also. My taste is quite modern, but DH prefers arts and crafts/simple traditional (think Restoration hardware style) so we are trying to find things that we both like and that look good in our house. There are things from our old house that don't seem to look right here and I'm having trouble figuring out what to do with them! It's a challenge because I want it to be "done" already but it's fun too!

Your house looks great-very modern and clean. Is that "lump" on your bed a cat?

We still have my husband''s office, and our media room to start, and our 2nd bedroom is right now, the cats'' room.

I have the same problem with picking out furniture - but my husband and I are enormous Frank Lloyd Wright fans - we just don''t have the funds to furnish in the style we prefer right now.

We shop at this fabulous store called Aneita Fern - http://aneitafern.com/ I''m in lust with a $3k bar, but alas, those will have to wait.

wow, you have a beautiful home...

Cind, thank you!

Yes, that lump on the bed is a cat - a very cross-eyed siamese mix named Takumi.

Thank you, Kimberly. We have a fantastic place for cheap plants here in Dallas - Garden Ridge. Not sure if they have them in your neck of the woods, but the great room has less than $100 in fake plants in it.
