So I got the images for the .568ct round brilliant I''m getting for my girlfriend''s custom engagement ring. I love it! Now let''s see what the jury thinks...

How very exciting this all is. A few weeks ago I''d have walked into Hatton Garden in London and settled for any stone, based on size. I can''t believe how much PS has taught me. I told my boss about pavilion angles today! What''s happening to me!?

What a gorgeous stone!!!

Thanks ImpatientOne, Lorelei and Ellen. I couldn't have done it without the Pricescopers!

The 40x image is a bit blurry because I reduced the image quality to get it under 100kb for uploading. I went a bit overboard and cut it to 31kb by mistake! But the full size image shows a really nice clear table.

That''s beautiful :)

I certainly think so! A big thanks to Whiteflash for tracking down exactly what I wanted. My specifications were pretty exacting, so it can't have been easy.

As has been said elsewhere on the forums, smaller diamonds are the norm in the UK. My boss just laughed when he saw it was over half a carat. He thought a 0.33ct was pretty big.

Very nice!!!

I know exactly what you mean, a couple months ago I thought this whole e-ring process was going to take a days or two tops...little did I know!

sweet
congrates!

Well done Splinter!
I''m sure that''ll make a lovely ring..

Forgot to mention it''s a D, VS1!

The setting will be platinum. Quite a thin band with small channel set princess stones (approx .70tcw) running about 3/4 of the way around. I''m getting it custom made by Whiteflash. I''ve considered making a thread documenting the process (as has been done before by others). It might be useful to others who are considering custom designs but aren''t sure of the procedure.

Go for it, always nice to learn from the expierences of others

Sounds like it''s going to be a beautiful ring. I look forward to hearing the updates and seeing the final product :)

Slightly OT: My husbands from England ( Brighton) and I asked him about he diamond size thingy over there, but he couldn''t remember. I guess he''s not really into jewelry though so thats probably why.

I''ll create a thread with all the details at the end of the process. We can''t edit old posts, so it would be hard to keep the thread easy to read. I''d rather have all the info in the first post of the thread. Much easier to follow.

innerkitten: Yeah, the size of diamonds is not something I''d noticed at all until I had to get one. Now I look at peoples'' rings while I''m on the subway and stuff to evaluate size, colour, setting, etc... It''s quite an odd obsession but I just want my girlfriend to have the absolute best I can find.
