This might be a nice stone, Dskk4.

Try to run price comparison for 1.02-G-SI1 from Pricescope.com front page.

I'm afraid you'll see that you could find many nice stones for about $1,000 less in the internet from different vendors. Sorry if it upsets you :(

I'm not too sure about buying online. Is this still a good buy from a retail jeweler? Also, I was told that this diamond was ideal cut, how do I know this is true?

The diamond is beautiful. We compared it side by side to a GIA Cert 1.03,VS1,E for $7,000 and could not tell them apart. We decided to save the $2,000 for the GIA Cert.

You might want to scan through this forum and check consumers' posts about their experience.

It can be if you mixed Table and Depth. Does the diamond has a grading report? From which lab (e.g. GIA, AGS, EGL, etc)? Whould it be possible to get crown and pavilion angles for the diamond (Saring or Ogi measurements)?

It does have a Diamond Grading Report, but it is from the store itself. The gentleman I delt with is a graduated gemologist, if that means anything. The ring came with an appraisal for $10,000.

Not a very good sign :( Rockdoc loves these stories...

You would be safer if could arrange an independent appraisal to verify the stone is as represented.

Besides, overinflated appraisal is not good - higher insurance premium.

I agree. How and where can I get an independant appraisal? I'm in the Boston, MA area.
