A few new stones

I''ve had this malaya garnet for several weeks now but it''s taken me a long time to get even a halfway decent picture of it. Mostly it just photographs as a brown blob. Here it is looking a bit pinkish.

Next up is a spessartite from Gene. I just bought this during his sale and it''s another bugger to photograph.

It does have a bit of brown in it but not as much as the pictures would leave you to believe.

I meant to put in that detail but my husband was nagging at me to come out and help him shovel snow.

It does indeed. It doesn''t take much of a change in light for it to change it''s color.

Both of them are gorgeous. Malaya has this velvety-dirty rose color that is difficult to obtain even in clothes. It is rare, soft and elegant. Congratulations.
