So long story short, I am babysitting this for my mom. Its a lovely OEC diamond, approximately 2.5 carats, I-K color, VS2 clarity (it hasn''t been graded out of the setting). This is an AMAZING stone - it throws off huge chunks of fire, which I was totally unable to capture in any of these pictures but I wanted to share them anyway. The stone was originally in my grandmother''s engagement ring, and was moved to this setting by my mom. Once her life settles down a bit she plans to re-set it again, into a Tiffany-style three stone with sapphire pear sides and double claw prongs. I''ll be sure to post pics once that re-set is complete as well. In the meantime, enjoy these and I''ll see if I can''t get some better shots of the fire this stone gives off to share. This is my hand in the pictures, FYI, and I wear a size 6.5, for reference, although the ring is a bit big on me.

What a great stone, and the reset idea sounds fabulous! Please post pics once it''s all done!

Thanks Deejay - the pictures don''t even remotely do it justice, the only thing they capture is the size (which is pretty divine, IMHO), but there''s nothing of the lovely fire or the chunky facets which are so nice about OECs. I have to see if I can get some better pics. But I will definitely post pics after the re-set - I''m super excited to see how this baby looks in a new setting!

beauty!
I have an OEC myself just love them

that setting looks like the star ship enterprise!! hehehe

Thanks Mustang - aren''t OECs fun? I just love the chunky facets

The setting is dreadful though, isn''t it? My mom really wanted something that didn''t look like an engagement ring, but I think she went a little 1980''s overboard...

Thanks Lisa - believe me, I''m having lots of fun babysitting it...but not nearly as much fun as I''ll have once its re-set. Once that happens she may have trouble getting it back

AG, that OEC is gorgeous. I love it. It''s funny that the setting doesn''t make it look smaller, but it really doesn''t appear to.

WOW - very pretty stone! The remake plan sounds yummy too!

It''s beautiful! Can''t wait for the re-set. It will be a stunner!

OMG, love it. Am also a huge fan of OECs. This is going to be something reset.

Shay - I do think that''s amazing that even though its got this massive setting basically swallowing it up the stone still looks enormous. I can only imagine how much bigger it would look in a setting that emphasized its size!

Cdn, alj, bizou - I am waiting with bated breath for the re-set. Unfortunately mom is right in the middle of trying to sell her house and then buy another one and she wants to wait until after that so that things can settle down.

~~Well, if you ever get tired, I would love to babysit
