I came across this page while looking up medieval gemstones, and it's fascinating to look at these ancient rings:

They're mostly gold bands, but there are some really interesting gemstone ones such as these:
Amphora garnet ring from Hellenistic Greece (100 B.C.)

Emerald Cluster ring from baroque Italy (17th century)

Renaissance Diamond Ring (1600s-- good to know we loved our diamonds back then too!)

Iranian Seljuq Empire Sapphire Ring (13th Century)
